Parveen Ashraf is a self-taught chef and author of the very recently published, Indian cookery book titled ‘Parveen The Spice Queen’.  In her first book, she shares her simple but authentically delicious recipes and this, with a huge dollop of Yorkshire common sense and humour.

Parveen is said to be the Asian answer to Nigella Lawson. Parveen, a wife, mum and entrepreneur is passionate about her culture and cuisine.

For almost a decade Parveen has taught Indian cooking, ran cookery demonstrations and catered glamorous Bollywood Dinner Parties. She brings all of this experience to life in her step by step book. The book includes every English favourite including Chicken Masala, Lamb Bhuna and Samosas.

Parveen has already begun to make a name for herself with her onscreen cooking demonstrations on the live Hochanda Shopping Network, as well as showcasing her own Indian recipes, she is their resident ‘expert’ in all things culinary.

Her fun loving persona and passion for her cuisine easily engages her audience when cooking on TV or during her live demonstration.

After leaving the corporate world a decade ago, Parveen began demonstrating and teaching cooking around the UK and Europe. She is a firm believer that with the right method and the right spices, anyone can create the most delicious authentic food. Parveen is also has her own range of spices and has just designed her fabulous Peshwari Naan Kit.

As well as having a regular slot on Hochanda, she has made several appearances on Ideal World Shopping Channel, cooking on live TV.  In September 2010, she appeared on the popular Channel 4 Programme Come Dine with Me.’ Parveen has always had a passion for cooking, even from a very young age, helping her mother cook the family meals. She has been cooking for her friends and family and helping to cater at events for more than 20 years and has a decade of experience as a private chef teaching Indian cookery at several colleges and cookery schools.

In 2011 Parveen was lucky enough to travel around Europe as part of ECLAND (European cooking and language exchange programme). The project, funded by Brussels allowed her to share her culinary experiences with countries such Austria, Turkey, Latvia, Greece and Czech Republic.
